When it comes to milk I prefer to make my own🌱
Don’t get me wrong, nut milk found on grocery store shelves can be an amazing choice for people simply looking to cut out animal products from their diets.🐮💕
But for me, already deep into veganism, it became a matter of health and waste.
Healing my autoimmune disease meant healing my gut. Which meant looking at ingredients that are highly inflammatory and irritating to the gut.☠️
Store bought nut milk has a lot of additives in it that really aren’t necessary when you can simply make your own nut milk in under 5 minutes with only a couple of very simple ingredients.🦋
Ingredients like Added Sugar, Carrageen, “Natural” Flavors, Vegetable Oils, Gums like Xanthin and Locust Bean, and synthetic vitamins. All shit I would want to avoid as much as possible, are in most of the processed foods in grocery stores.😷
I also don’t really vibe with the idea of this milk just sitting in a box for months on end when fresh nut milk only lasts under a week. Thats a bit fucked up???
Not to mention the continuous cycle of cartons going into landfills and who knows how much waste was involved in creating that milk!🙃
So theres plenty of reasons for me to have ended it with store bought milk. But keep in mind, im not perfect and still sometimes get that milk in my coffee or something. Im human.
Nonetheless, Ive experimented with a couple of different nut milk recipes and the ultimate winner for me is…
✨O A T M I L K✨
