Now, let’s talk about Julie’s younger brother, Chef Hong, because making amazing food definitely runs in that family 😍
I had just discovered Chef Hong a few months ago, apparently I’ve been living under a rock. He owns a little one man food trailer (北方小馆) on W 24th Street and Pearl. I’ve only just tried his food for the first time a couple weeks ago courtesy of @eats_n_noods ❤️ She told me that he specializes in 凉皮 (Liang Pi - Cold Skin Noodles) so that’s what I ordered. Let me tell you, it tasted like my hometown food from China.
I ate a lot of Liang Pi street food growing up in my little town in China, and his dish brought out so many memories for me. We were suppose to go back to China for the first time since 2012 this April, but of course, the entire world’s plan fell apart. I miss my relatives, I miss the culture and I miss the foods.
But alas, until the world is safe for me to go back to China again, I will be surviving on Chef Hong’s Liang Pi. He is open normal hours. I can’t wait to try his entire menu.
