Visiting these amazing cliffs has been high on my bucket list for years and years (well, ever since I first saw The Princess Bride), and I finally got the chance two weeks ago when touring Ireland. I was so incredibly impressed, beyond my expectations, at how sheer and dramatic this landcsape is. It was one of the best outdoor days I've had in a long time ❤
I hiked from my hostel in the local town Doolin, all the way up to furthest headland point and back; about a 33km day.
I couldn't have had a more beautiful, sunny day, but the wind was absolutely crazy. They had issued severe wind warnings that morning, but even as we took extra care, it was still a huge struggle at some points.
If you look closely, you can see my sliced hand still bleeding ☹ At one point the wind was so unexpectedly strong, my hiking partner and I went completely ass over, and I joke not, it was pushing us towards the edge. We both had to lunge for the barbed wire fence for something to hang onto. I'm a bit of a YOLOist at times but this was definitely enough to get my heart racing. WILD DAYS! 😘
