Nutrition. Something we all know is important, yet continue to disregard. It's also something that we often hear so much about, yet so easily be misinformed.
It's concerning that it seems like the more we learn about nutrition, the more we ignore and the easier we are to be misled. There are many misleading nutrition myths as well as marketing gimmicks that sell on shortcut methods and products to achieve health and fitness.
Most people like to hear about shortcuts and not the unpopular truths. Educating on nutrition is very challenging. With the knowledge gained from this certification, it has helped me with my nutrition awareness and practices, and I sincerely believe that I can help my students, friends and family too.
There's a saying that goes along the line of "to be healthy and fit, you'll need to practice 80% nutrition and 20% exercise". I don’t really agree on this. Both nutrition and exercise are equally important. To achieve your health and fitness goals, you'll need to have the 100% nutrition and 100% exercise mindset.
Let's talk about cheat day as well. The word "cheat" implies dishonesty. Practice a well-balanced diet instead of an extreme diet which requires you to cheat. If your diet needs you to go on a cheat day, chances are you don't like the diet. Do you practice cheat day in your love relationship? I believe that is a no. A good relationship with your diet is like your love relationship. You don't need to cheat.
In the end, a steady and sustainable diet plan with a less aggressive approach which allows you to eat a bit more of what you like daily will get you to your goals faster and leave you having a better relationship with the process of fat loss.
A blow-out cheat meal might make you feel good in the moment, but ultimately it is only prolonging the time it takes for you to progress.
Stay consistent and disciplined in your nutrition and training plan. Most importantly, believe in the progress.
