After rediscovering a book I had long forgotten about on fairy art. I decided that once a day I will post some of my favorite pieces from within the book. The book is called The World Of Faery and hands down has some of the best artist in it. The first piece is by Stephanie Pui Law and is called chess mates. I always loved this piece and to this day it reminds me of when my son was a wee little sprout. .
One summer I enrolled him in a very expensive art summer camp called camp Picasso! I should mention the camp was located inside Staten islands botanical garden! .
. One of their daily activities among making art was going out and strolling this garden filled with big old trees and all kinds of flowers.
One of their wonderful Rastafarian camp counselors named Aboo would take the kids out and tell them all about how the trees were ents that could come alive when people weren't watching. My son loved his stories and the tree in this painting playing chess brings me back to that time. You really have to study this pieces of art, I mean really look at it. You don't see all the little details right away. Like how there is a turtle the chessboard is sitting upon or how some of the foxes have wings. It's such a truly magical piece!
