This morning we went to the Texas State Fair for our seventh (and probably last) time this season. We had to indulge in the peanut butter snookie, a warm peanut butter cup cookie with vanilla ice cream, caramel and chocolate drizzle, whip cream and a cherry. So sweet but delicious! We also had the loaded baked potato funnel cake. We liked it but thought it would be better with less butter and more bacon. And, keeping with that theme, we went next door for the deep fried potato salad. This had a tang to it that we both enjoyed. In addition to the food, we love the fairgrounds and its architecture. In fact, we actually got married and had our reception (during a non-fair time) at The Women’s Museum located on the north side of the grounds. And it’s a yearly tradition for us to go back there, walk around, and reminisce—so that is how we finished this season. Until next year!
