One of my mum's recipe and has been my favorite for the longest time. In Indonesia, people called this dish as Bakmi Godog Jawa. It's basically noodles cooked in egg gravy sauce.
I used Ayam Brand Noodles which I bought from @woolworths_au supermarket. I found this noodle brand is the closest in texture and flavour of the original Indonesian egg noodle @pt.mieatombulan (swipe left for pic) . I promised you that it won't take more than 15 mins to cook this, very easy and of course delicious 🤤. Try it 😊
BAKMI GODOG JAWA / NOODLE IN EGG GRAVY SAUCE
4 pcs of ayam brand noodle
about 6 pcs of small shrimp
any meats (shreeded chicken, leftover beef or pork etc that you have on hand or you can skip it)
cabbage (shred thinly) or choysum (cut)
1 tomatoes (diced into 4)
spring onion (diced)
fried shallot (optional, for added texture and flavour punch)
🍳Boiled and drained the noodles according to the packet instruction (make sure to not overcook the noodle) -set aside
🍳 Blitz shallots, garlic, prawns in a blender into a paste (or just diced it into tiny pieces)
🍳Stir fry the paste with oil (be generous with the oil on the pan) until fragrant
🍳Add in the meat
🍳Add in the noodle
🍳Season with salt, pepper, pinch of sugar, soy sauce, kecap manis
🍳Add in water (just enough to cover the noodles), let it boil 🍳Once it starts bubbling, add in the egg and quickly stir and mix the egg well, lower the heat (the egg will thicken the sauce)
🍳Add in vegetables, tomatoes then mix well
🍳Lastly add the spring onion and fried shallot. Turn the heat off.
If you like spicy, you can cut some fresh chili and add it in the noodle.
Best to pair this with pickled cucumber and carrot (aka. acar) 🥒🥕
